Asters
Asters

As the September birth flower, aster straddles the boundary between summer and fall, offering a burst of color as cooler temperatures begin to arrive. Meaning “star” in Greek, the daisy-like aster has a rich history and a deep symbolism, associated with qualities like patience, faith, wisdom, enduring love, and elegance.
I always thrill at the profusion of asters that bloom in our neighborhood in September. To me, these wildflowers represent a welcome transition into the abundance of the harvest season, and this painting offers that same sense of warmth and unassuming elegance.
